Who is Speziale?

In 2003, with the blessing of my grandmother I decided to open my business and name it after my Grand Uncle Dan Speziale who I’ve always felt a strong connection to. Even though his experience as a MP probably exposed him to a lot of life’s ugliness, he always remained a quiet man with a kind heart and a gentle spirit. He died very young (before I was born) from an injury received in a bar fight many years earlier. As the story goes, Uncle Dan was in a bar on Bourbon Street (New Orleans) when he witnessed a man being assaulted. Without thinking he tried to save the victim by grabbing the attacker by the throat, giving the man time to escape. Unfortunately someone came up behind him and surprised him with a bar stool to the head. Several years later the resulting blood clot dislodged and took his life after he slipped and fell on the ice outside his home while retrieving the morning paper. He was only in his 40’s. One of my greatest regrets is that I never had the chance to meet him. He is sorely missed!
